Finished houses

In a previous post I showed you the project of some new houses for 15 mm miniatures games. Ideal for Flames of War, whose miniatures bases I have taken as reference when I designed the size of the houses.
Well, it was time to finish them and here they are:

I made them with a wooden base, structure of walls and roofs of foam core and covered with wooden lath. The doors and windows are made with MDF.

Thanks to a laser engraving and cutting machine I have been able to make better windows than in the houses I used to do before. Here you can see the difference:

As you can see, in the small houses fit 2 medium-sized bases:

 The windows and doors are painted in different colors, as can be seen in the original houses:

  
In these 2 houses of medium size (can be configured as 1 or 2 floors) fit 7 to 11 teams:

In the largest house (can be configured as 1 or 2 floors) fit from 10 to 17 teams:

Project of hidden base in asteroid for X-wing

Since I began to make the asteroids, I had in mind to make one that served as an objective or central element for some mission. Thinking on a hidden base for the rebels (or the faction of scum and villains) and in which they fit at least 2 small ships.

The first step is to know how to dimension the structure so that it becomes a credible object within the game, with the ships wandering around the game board; trying to get the asteroid entrance at the same height of the ships.

The main structure will be polystyrene, as in small asteroids.

After trying different options, I have seen that it is best to place up and down plates of 4 cm thick with a central plate of 5 cm, for a total height of 13 cm:

The next step has been to think about the surface that the asteroid must occupy to house the ships but, at the same time, allowing the game around it.

I have tested 2 configurations. One with a base of 30 x 30 cm in which fit 4 small ships and another 40 x 40 cm in which fit 4 small ships and one large ship:

 

Once the plates are cut, I checked how they are on the playmat.

First the 30 x 30 asteroid on a 90 x 90 cm mat:

  

The 40 x 40 asteroid on the same mat of 90 x 90 cm:

Now it's time to see how they are on a 120 x 120 cm mat.

The asteroid of 90 x 90 cm:

On the 90x90 mat you can see that with the large asteroid there is little room for maneuver for the ships, but on the 120x120 mat, both asteroids fit better.

Anyway, you have to bear in mind that I have to shape the asteroids by cutting the corners and slightly the sides. And they will occupy a little less space.

After this check, it's time to design the interior of the asteroids.

I show you some houses that I made for 15 mm miniatures games.

Houses for 15 mm miniatures games

These are the houses I´ve made for games in 15 mm. Specifically for the Eastern Front of the Flames of War World War Two game.
They are inspired in the Russian and Ucranian houses of that time. Although the wooden houses were usually gable roof...

For use the houses in the game, I´ve measured them in order to acommodate the medium base teams as well as possible.
In these house fit 2, 3 and 5 teams in the house with loft:

I´m making more houses these days, with space for 2, 4, 5, 7 untill 18 medium base teams; because they have 1 and 2 floor with loft.

I´ve designed the houses for place 1 or 2 floors with loft -except the little house-:











All will be gamble roof.
Although the majority of the rural houses were little, also there were mansions. I had a doubt about they were bigger than the houses I´ve making -18 teams-, but I´ve found this:
